Cincinnati, Ohio
The city of Cincinnati was first settled in 1788 when pioneers landed at the meeting of the Ohio River and the Licking River on the opposite bank. Cincinnati was incorporated in 1819 as a city. A canal connected the Ohio River and Great Miami River. The canal helped Cincinnati grow to well over 100,000 people by 1850. Its location on the Ohio River led to Cincinnati depending on trade with southern states. Railroads began to open up more trade routes in the 1830's. These extended towards most major cities making Cincinnati, along with the rivers, a sort of transportation hub at the bottom of the Midwest.  Transportation helped Cincinnati survive the Great Depression.

Today, the Cincinnati Metro Area is home to over 2,100,000 people that live in both Ohio and Northern Kentucky, including the cities of Covington and more.
